GOOD PRACTICES

It is a citizen science tool intended for adult users who want to contribute to monitoring climate change in their environment.

ECOSYSTEM-BASED CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION

Ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change and disaster risk reduction are innovative measures that rely on ecosystem services to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and communities.

EXAMPLES OF GOOD PRACTICES

Some ecosystem-based adaptation measures are presented below:

CRITERIA FOR SELECTING GOOD PRACTICES

The researchers have identified criteria that can help experts and practitioners (i.e. all stakeholders directly involved in the implementation of measures) determine whether a proposed measure actually falls under ecosystem-based adaptation and risk reduction.

CATALOGUE OF GOOD PRACTICES

The ECO2SMART good practice catalogue collects information on already implemented measures that contribute to mitigating the consequences of climate change and disaster risks through ecosystem-based approaches. The catalogue aims to contribute to capacity building, knowledge and experience transfer among stakeholders in the northern Adriatic coastal border area and to improve cooperation among stakeholders within the Interreg Italy-Slovenia programme area. The collected good practice examples describe in a transparent and simple way the benefits of preserving and restoring ecosystems for adapting to climate change and achieving other sustainable development goals.

BECOME A CITIZEN SCIENTIST AND HELP COLLECT DATA ON GOOD PRACTICES

The citizen science application below enables you to participate in collecting information on climate change adaptation measures within the programme area of the Interreg Slovenia–Italy Programme. Citizen science is a scientific research concept in which non-professional researchers are involved in research activities in various ways (such as students, members of different associations, representatives of local communities, and all other members of the interested public who are not professional researchers). The application is therefore intended for adults aged 18 and over.

By actively involving all interested participants, we aim to encourage mutual learning, the exchange of experiences, and cooperation in the joint planning, implementation, and evaluation of adaptation measures.

The application allows you to submit data via a form on an implemented climate change adaptation measure that applies an ecosystem-based approach and that, in your assessment, represents a good practice example from various perspectives. Researchers will evaluate the submission, and after the evaluation process is completed, information about the entry will be displayed on a public map on the online educational portal.

To participate in the study, you must be at least 18 years old. Participation in the study is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time before or during the completion of the form.

Start entering data by following a few simple steps.

Use only alphanumeric characters and symbols: -_ . ! ~ * ' ( )

THE FOLLOWING DATA WILL BE PUBLICLY VISIBLE ON THE MAP:

Najprej izberite državo
Type of measure (select one or more)
Mark the good practice criteria (select one or more)

Participation in the research is voluntary. You can withdraw from participation at any time, both before and during completion. Before submitting data, you must confirm that you agree to the terms of participation in the research. If you do not confirm the statements below, the data cannot be sent.

Based on your consent, we at the Science and Research Centre Koper as data controllers will process your personal data (including their storage and use in the research tool) for scientific research purposes within the ECO2SMART project. Personal data will also be used to evaluate climate change adaptation practices and knowledge exchange, which may include sharing data with our project partners and storage in organizational archives.

You can revoke your consent regarding data processing at any time (e.g., by writing to us at our official email address). Data will be stored until receipt of consent revocation or for five years after the project ends. Certain data may be permanently stored on our website or in our archives and used for scientific publications, with such data being appropriately anonymized.

For more information on how we process your personal data and what rights you have in this regard, you can view our privacy policy (LINK).
