about the Project

The ECO2SMART project is based on the knowledge developed by the project partners within the ECO-SMART project, which was implemented between 2020 and 2022 under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia cooperation programme. The results of this project were reused, upgraded and expanded. The impacts of the ECO2SMART project were achieved through a number of project activities, namely:

• based on strengthening the capacity of stakeholders (organization of study visits, preparation of a catalogue of good practices in ecosystem-based adaptation);
• by implementing pilot measures for the restoration of green infrastructure that can reduce climate risks and enrich the community with numerous co-occurring benefits based on enhanced ecosystem services;
• by organizing training courses and upgrading the online educational portal with new tools and content;
• through communication, awareness-raising and information;
• by preparing a strategy for proactively involving target groups of stakeholders and the interested public in climate change adaptation activities aimed at solving local challenges.

All of these measures together can mitigate the effects of climate change and increase community resilience.
